Our First Million
April 11, 2011  |  by jess m  |  Stuff For Wanderers

We made friends with a couple from Holland, Erik and Bettina, who are traveling in South East Asia for six months. Hearing their stories of Laos and Cambodia got us so excited to visit later in the year. They warned us not to take any money out of Laos, as no foreign banks will exchange the money. They didn’t know that, and were sitting on two million Laotian Kip (which means chicken in Dutch, incidentally). Since we are going to Laos later in the year, we bought their Kip, and Ta-Daa! We are instant multi-millionaires. We are tempted to have a Demi Moore in Indecent Proposal moment with our millions, but since it’s really a little less than $200, it seems a bit exuberant.

  1. Don’t all those different currencies make you crazy…been there, done that!

  2. You two are having way too much fun! But my idea of roughing it is a Holiday Inn Express when I can’t find a Hilton!

  3. I love the tan Jess C’s sporting!
